The decision of the OSCE parliamentary Assembly to create a Committee on counter-terrorism, the need for which has repeatedly said Moscow is evidence of the beginning of the end of Russophobic sentiments in the organization. This view was expressed by Deputy Chairman of the state Duma, the head of the Russian delegation to the OSCE PA Peter Tolstoy, reports on Wednesday, 5 July, “Parlamentskaya Gazeta”.

“We are beginning to overcome Russophobia, for several years, gaining momentum in the European institutions, which dooms any proposal to failure. Support our initiative — it is a sign of the beginning of the end of this long-standing trend,” said Tolstoy.

In this regard, he also expressed hope for constructive work together with colleagues from USA and parliamentarians of European countries.

The speaker of the Assembly Christine Muttonen the meeting proposed to establish a special Committee for combating terrorism earlier on Wednesday. In her opinion, this allows the PACE to do practical activities on combating terrorist organizations, as well as serve as a platform for the development of appropriate political decisions. Muttonen initiative was supported by the participants of the event unanimously.

In early June calling for the establishment of the Committee of the OSCE PA, which will oversee the fight against terrorism was made by the speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin during a working visit to Belgrade.
