Collective reading of the Bible was equated to rally

In Russia collective Bible reading in a cafe should be agreed with the authorities to ensure the safety of participants and other visitors. This is reported by “Vedomosti” with reference to the Plenipotentiary of Russia at the European court of human rights (ECHR) Michael Halperin.

It is noted that in this way Russia has officially responded to the request in the leader of a group of Evangelical Christians Alexei Kolyasnikova, which in 2014 was fined for collective Bible reading in a cafe in Sochi.

It is noted that believers are free to gather, however, this right may be restricted when necessary to protect the constitutional order and security.

In the summer of 2016 was adopted by the anti-terrorism package of laws was developed by Deputy Irina Yarovaya, together with Senator Viktor Ozerov. According to him, missionary activity is allowed only in religious buildings, on adjacent territory, places of pilgrimage, cemeteries and crematoriums.

In December 2014, the Khosta district court of Sochi Kolyasnikova on 30 thousand rubles for reading the Bible. He was found guilty guilty of organizing a public event. He Kolesnikov claimed that the session was conducted in a closed room cafe Bel Canto, which was rented from the owner for the event.
