The majority of Russians trust the police

More than half of Russians trust the police. This is evidenced by data survey, conducted by the Russian centre for public opinion studies (VTSIOM).

The majority of respondents (57 percent) believe that the service as a whole to cope with the tasks. A third of respondents disagree. However, over the last two years with the traffic police faced about 60 percent of study participants.

According to the survey, the level of corruption among traffic policemen decreased. Two years ago, about the corruption of inspectors, said 32 percent of respondents, this figure dropped to 23 percent. In the field of medicine, according to the respondents, on the contrary, increased the level of corruption. So, in 2016, about the dishonesty of doctors said 21 percent of respondents, while now the figure rose to 27 percent.

The survey was conducted from 24 to 25 June among 1.2 thousand respondents over 18 years. The statistical error does not exceed 3.5%.

Positive changes in the attitude of the traffic police, according to state Duma Deputy Vyacheslav Lyssakov, are associated with reductions in the ranks of traffic police. “We see inspectors on the streets much less frequently than 3-5 years ago. The less you stop, the less conflicts and more reasons to trust the system as a whole,” he told the National news service (NSN).

According to a study conducted by “Levada Center” in March, the majority of Russians are not ready to tolerate corruption in government. Only 5 percent of respondents are loyal to the bribe takers among officials. Nearly 80 percent of respondents believe that the authorities fully or largely corrupt.
