Speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin has offered to Marat Safin, who decided to give up his powers to become his assistant. This was announced by first Deputy Chairman of the faction “United Russia” Andrei Isayev, RIA Novosti reported.
Safin was offered the position of adviser on public principles “on sport”, said Isayev.
That 37-year-old tennis player sent a statement on early resignation of the mandate, it became known on 25 may. The reason for this was doubt Safina — will he be able to combine parliamentary activities with sports and social life. The Committee on rules granted his request. Final decision will be made at the plenary session of the Duma.
It was also noted that Safin in his address to the speaker of the lower house expressed its willingness to execute any order Volodin, “including those associated with the development of the Russian sports”.
