Chairman of the National Committee of the US Democratic party (DNC) on Saturday, February 25, was elected former Secretary of labor Tom Perez, reports The Washington Post.
In the struggle for the post in the second round of voting, he defeated Congressman Ellison Kitt. For Perez voted 235 members of the national Committee Democrats United States, Ellison — 200.
“Someday, people will study this era of American history,” said Perez after his victory. “They’ll ask us all the question: “Where were you in 2017, when we had the worst President in the history of the United States?” We can reply that the Democratic party was at the head of the resistance, and did all that he had one presidential term,” said the newly elected head of the national Committee.
Former US President Barack Obama in his statement congratulated Peres on the victory, calling it “friend”. “I know that Tom Perez will bring us together under this banner opportunities and will lay the Foundation for a new generation of Democratic leadership for this big, bold, inclusive, dynamic America that we love so well,” said the ex-President of the United States.
