The rocket “Soyuz” with the cargo ship “Progress” was launched from Baikonur

The carrier rocket “Soyuz-U” with a cargo spacecraft “Progress MS-05” was launched from Baikonur cosmodrome. Stream run was conducted on the website of the state Corporation “Roscosmos”.

“Estimated time of separation of the spacecraft from the 3rd stage of the launch vehicle and the removal of the ship into orbit — 09:07 GMT”, — reported in the mission control Center.

According to TSUP, the mission program provided a two-day scheme of the spacecraft rendezvous with the International space station (ISS). The vehicle docking with ISS is scheduled for approximately 11:34 GMT on 24 February. The convergence of the transport ship “Progress MS-05” with the station and docking to docking compartment Pirs will be carried out in automatic mode under control specialists Mission control and the Russian members of the ISS crew — Sergei Ryzhikov and Oleg Novitsky.

The ship “Progress MS-05” delivered to the International space station more than two tons of various cargoes, including fuel, air, means for life support of the crew of the ISS equipment to keep the station in operation, parcels for cosmonauts and astronauts.

Previous launch of “Progress” on 1 December 2016 ended with the accident. The ship was burned in the dense layers of the atmosphere. It was reported that the accident occurred during operation of the engine third stage rocket “Soyuz-U”.

In the result of emergency situations, the loss of the ship occurred at an altitude of about 190 km over a remote unpopulated mountainous territory of Tuva. Start of the carrier rocket “Soyuz-U” with transport cargo vehicle “Progress MC-04” was insured by the company “VTB insurance”. The total amount of insurance payments is 2.1 billion.
