The foreign Ministry has published a poem dedicated to Churkin, Lavrov

The Russian foreign Ministry on his page in Facebook published a poem of the head of Department, Sergei Lavrov, devoted to the deceased, the permanent representative of Russia to the UN Vitaly Churkin.

In the Preface, Lavrov said that he and Churkin, “go through life next to each other”. “In the spring of 1990 at the same time was appointed Deputy Minister, I was in charge of the UN, and the Balkans, becoming simultaneously the Special representative of the President of Russia on settlement of the crisis in the former Yugoslavia”, — said the Minister.

According to him, virtually all of the February 1994 Churkin held in Bosnia and Herzegovina, “seeking an objective investigation by UN experts of an explosion at the Sarajevo Markale market”. The poem was written at the same time and was a gift to the diplomat to 42nd birthday.

In the work of Lavrov tribute to friend and says: “No threat or ultimatum / did Not break the forward movement. / Applauds the world the diplomat / deserved praise pays”.

Vitaly Churkin, died February 20 in new York at the age of 64 on the eve of his birthday. According to media reports, the cause of death was a heart attack. Churkin diplomatic career began in 1974, and from April 2006 he held the position of permanent representative of Russia to the UN.
