Putin, Churkin was awarded the order of Courage posthumously

MOSCOW, February 21. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on awarding Vitaly Churkin the order of Courage.

As reported a press-service of the Kremlin, the award was given “for dedication, persistence and professionalism shown in the post of permanent representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations in new York, USA”.

Earlier, the President sent a telegram of condolence to the spouse of the diplomat Irina Churkinoj and his children Anastasia and Alexander Churkin.

Vitaly Churkin, died February 20 in new York, on the eve of his 65th birthday. The post of permanent representative to the UN diplomat has held since April 8, 2006.
