The wife of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Mehriban Aliyeva was appointed the first Vice President. The decree was signed by the head of state, reports TASS.
“In accordance with article 103-1 of the Constitution of Azerbaijan, I decree: to appoint Mrs Mehriban Arif Aliyev, the first Vice-President of the Republic of Azerbaijan”, – said in the order.
In the event of failure of the President to perform his duties or his powers are transferred it is to the first Vice-President, says the Constitution. In addition to the post of first Vice-President, in Azerbaijan there are two posts of Vice-President.
Aliyev presented his wife in a new position at the security Council meeting state.
Mehriban Aliyeva is currently headed by Heydar Aliyev Foundation, she is goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and the Islamic organization for education, science and culture.
