The Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson stood next to the traditional joint photo at the end of the first day of the Ministerial consultations of the “Big twenty”. Tillerson, came one of the last, welcomed all the Ministers and stood up for the family photo in the front row, right by Lavrov.
It is symbolic that in the Cologne airport, where he arrived foreign delegations, Russian and American planes also were next door to each other.
The focus of the media during the day was confined to the first contacts of Rex Tillerson to the post of U.S. Secretary of state, especially his talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov. The Russian Minister described the meeting as productive. “In all these areas our American partners are interested to join efforts that are being made to overcome these conflicts,” he said.
