In the state Duma proposed to legislate the concept of “regional media”

State Duma deputies from the faction “United Russia” Natalia Kostenko, Olga Timofeeva introduced the lower house of Parliament, the bill enshrines in legislation the concept of “regional media”. The relevant document posted in the Duma’s electronic database, Friday, February 17.

The bill provides for amendments to the law “On mass media”. According to the authors, in the case of the adoption of the document, it will allow regional editions count on state support at realization of socially significant projects.

Regional media will be considered “registered mass media whose products are aimed at consumers in one, two or three constituent entities of the Russian Federation”. “Criteria for the media data requirements should be formulated in the order of the Ministry of communications and mass communications of the Russian Federation depending on the type of mass media”, — stated in the explanatory Memorandum.

It is noted that the draft law is prepared pursuant to orders of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on 27 February 2016 on the results of the Interregional forum of the Russian popular front (onf), held 24 — 25th of January of last year in Stavropol.

The participants drew the attention of the head of state at the low level of state support of the press in the regions. “Here, of course, the reason is that most of Rospechat, grants, apply to a mass-circulation media, that is Federal,” explained one of the speakers.
