Defense Minister of Turkey has accused NATO of failing to meet obligations

NATO currently is not fulfilling its obligations on the Southeast flank of the Alliance needs to strengthen this aspect. This was stated at the Munich security conference, defense Minister of Turkey Fikri Işık, reports the portal n-tv.de.

“NATO still has not fulfilled obligations on the South side. We hope that this will change in the near future,” he said.

Işık also noted that the Alliance “should not lose its deterrent and defense capability”. The Minister stressed that these tasks should be spread not only in Eastern but also in southern direction.

On 8 February, the presidents of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the US Donald trump has agreed to cooperate in the attack on the Syrian city of al-Bab and raqqa.

In a statement the White house stated that trump confirmed that Turkey is a strategic partner of USA and NATO ally.
