Last December, summing up its work for the year, the Governor of Ryazan region Oleg Kovalev said that not thinking about elections, which are scheduled for September 2017 and the formation of the budget and construction of the emergency hospital. “This round of work is more important than the decision to go or not to go (to the polls). The time will come. When will it come? When you come — then you will know,” said the Governor.
The time has come six weeks later — on 14 February the Governor announced the decision early resign and not run for a third term.
