The Governor of the Novgorod region announced early resignation
Sergey Mitin has headed the oblast since 2007.
Novgorod the GREAT, 13 Feb. /Offset. Julia Generosa TASS/. The Governor of the Novgorod region Sergey Mitin, whose powers expire in October 2017, announced the decision to leave his post early.
“This year ends my term as the Governor of the Novgorod region. For almost 10 years, my life is inextricably connected with the Novgorod earth. I decided not to nominate his candidacy for Governor of… preset notify the President of the Russian Federation, addressed to the head of state with a request to give me my new Commission”, — he told reporters, stressing that it is “a considered and informed step.”
The government of the region TASS reported that Mitin continues work on the post.
Mitin headed the Novgorod region since 2007.
Earlier local media reported that the place Mitina may take the General Director of the Agency for strategic initiatives (ASI) Andrei Nikitin, however, the Novgorod authorities called them rumors.
A series of resignations of heads of regions began last week. On the sixth of February, the resignation was declared by the Governor of Perm region Viktor Basargin, the next day the resignation of the head of Buryatia Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn. Acting head of Perm territory became the head of the Department of economic policy and development of Moscow Maxim Reshetnikov, the acting head of the Republic of Buryatia Deputy head of the Ministry of transport of Russia Alexey Tsydenov.
