Political decisions against the DPRK, including sanctions, must be taken on the basis of reports of national ministries of defense and intelligence communities. This opinion was expressed by the head of the international Committee of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev, commenting on the past in the Republic of ballistic missile tests, said on Monday, February 13, RIA Novosti.
Kosachev stressed the importance of keeping the debate on North Korea within the framework of the UN Security Council. In addition, he pointed out that the information published in the media, very controversial: ranging from the type of the tested missiles and ending with evaluations of the results of this test.
“We hope that the security Council will take place first and foremost the expert conversation and only on its basis — the adoption of subsequent political decisions, including the issue of sanctions”, — said Kosachev.
February 12, North Korea launched the ballistic missile Pukguksong-2 (“Pukhansan-2”, “Severnaya Zvezda-2”) medium-range class “Musudan”. In testing was attended by North Korean leader Kim Jong-UN. As claimed by Pyongyang, the test was successful.
In 2016, North Korea had more than 20 launches of ballistic missiles and two nuclear tests. North Korea’s actions violated UN security Council resolution.
