Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed the hope that the situation in the Donbass will not come to a critical state. The corresponding statement he made at a press conference after talks with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban in Budapest, reports on Thursday, February 2, the correspondent of”.ru”.

“I really hope that sensible forces in Ukraine itself, as well as those interested in matters of this kind by political means, will not allow to develop the situation in the South-East of Ukraine in the worst case scenario, but rather focus all their attention and efforts in order to fulfil the Minsk agreements”, — said Putin.

At the same press conference the Russian leader said that the intensification of the conflict in the South-East of Ukraine was provoked by Kiev authorities for two reasons: because of the need for money and desire to present itself as a victim in the eyes of European politicians.

February 1, the press-Secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov has suggested that the escalation of the conflict on the contact line in the Donbass could serve as a pretext for the resumption of cooperation between Russia and the United States.

Clashes in the South-East of Ukraine intensified on January 29. The locals called the fighting near Avdeevka most intense from August 2015. The struggle is mainly an industrial zone, near to important transport hub Yasynuvata interchange.
