Slovenia expressed readiness to organize a meeting of Putin and trump

Slovenia is ready to provide a platform for negotiations of presidents of Russia and USA Vladimir Putin and Donald trump. This was stated by foreign Minister Karl Erjavec in interview to portal Zurnal24.si.

According to him, the initiative he discussed with the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov in December 2016. “Given the fact that we successfully organized a meeting of the George Bush — Vladimir Putin (the meeting was held at the brdo castle in June 2001 — approx. “Of the tape.ru”), Lavrov said that he sees no reason not to repeat the talks at this level. All this, of course, depends on the leaders of the USA and Russia,” said Erjavec.

23 Jan Prime Minister of Finland, Juha Sipilä said about the readiness to organize a meeting with trump and Putin. He admitted that the conversation the heads of States could take place “if the political situation will have on it.”

January 21, the press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said that the Russian leader is ready to meet with trump, but the training meetings will take months. Any clarity about the place or time for possible negotiations not yet, he said.

15 Jan newspaper the Sunday Times wrote that the American President intends to meet with his Russian counterpart in Reykjavik in the coming weeks. However, on the same day, the press Secretary of the White house Sean Spicer has denied these reports.

Vladimir Putin and Donald trump twice and talked on the phone. The last conversation took place on January 28 and lasted about 45 minutes. The sides discussed the conflicts in Syria and Ukraine, the issues of cooperation in the fight against the terrorist group “Islamic state” (IG banned in Russia), as well as the opportunity of a personal meeting and the establishment of bilateral relations.

Prior to that, the heads of state interviewed on 14 November 2016. They discussed relations between the two countries and spoke about the need to unite efforts in the fight against international terrorism and extremism.
