Engineering troops day (FC) was established by the decree of Russian President Boris Yeltsin on 18 September 1996 related to the number of memorable days by the decree of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on may 31, 2006. Celebrated annually on January 21.
Engineering troops of the armed forces perform tasks:
- in engineering exploration, trenches, trenches, shelters, anti-tank ditches;
- set minefields and engaged in the clearance;
- produce blasting;
- equip crossing of water obstacles;
- extract and purify water in the field;
- perform work on the camouflage, imitation of troops and facilities, the provision of misinformation to the enemy.
In peacetime:
- clean the area from explosive objects;
- participate in elimination of consequences of technogenic accidents, catastrophes and natural disasters;
- prevent the destruction of bridges and hydraulic structures during the ice drift.
