The Russian foreign Ministry has prepared a plan of events to commemorate zastresenom in Ankara after Andrew Charles, said the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov during the funeral for diplomat in Moscow. The Minister expressed the hope that the foreign Ministry plan was approved, and the event will hold in the near future, reports TASS.
However, the name Charles is already listed on a memorial plaque, dedicated to those who died in the performance of official duties of employees of the foreign Ministry.
To say goodbye to Charles came many outstanding figures of Russia, diplomats, relatives and friends of the deceased, reports RIA “Novosti”.
MGIMO rector, Anatoly Torkunov, was also present at the state funeral, said that the trip to Charles as the Russian Ambassador to Ankara was “a huge challenge”. According to him, despite the dramatic events in the international situation and bilateral relations, the Ambassador showed a lot of courage and fortitude, not allowing to fall in relations of Moscow and Ankara.
Director of the National Institute on BRICS research George Toloraya who previously worked with Charles at the Russian Embassy in North Korea, called the lost Ambassador “one of the most dedicated and qualified experts”, who never forgot about his work. “He has done a lot for our bilateral relations, he had a great relationship with Kim Jong Irom,” added Colora.
Attending the memorial service, the Communist party leader Gennady Zyuganov called for, despite the tragedy, not to succumb to emotions and continue to fight terrorism.
The head of the international Federation Council Committee Konstantin Kosachev also stressed that Charles gave his life in the name of victory over international terrorism. According to him, the perpetrators of the attack on the Ambassador “will not be able to suspend Russia’s desire to cooperate with all other countries, including Turkey, with the countries that are on this side of good and evil.” According to him, Russia will still be able to defeat evil in the form of international terrorism in Syria and other countries.
