Yury Chaika: 10% of convicted persons for corruption — law enforcement officers
The total damage from corruption crimes in 2016, 10% of the total amount of damage from all types of crime in the whole country, said the Prosecutor General of Russia Yuri Chaika.

According to him, the greatest number of prisoners from among the employees of internal Affairs bodies — 629, the Federal bailiff service — 134, drug — 45, customs service, 38 and the Investigative Committee — 18.
Mr Chaika noted that the assessment of the level of corruption in the ranks of law enforcement is difficult to give due to the fact that “the available statistics do not always reflect the real scale of the acts committed with regard to their high latency”.
“Corruption and crime is not only bribery, but also fraud with use of official position, embezzlement of entrusted funds. These formulations of theft form the main damage caused by corruption crimes,” he said.
