The pirates freed the ship with Russian sailors off the coast of Benin

The Russian foreign Ministry on 30 November officially announced the capture of a vessel off the coast of Africa. As reported by “RIA Novosti” with reference to the official representative of the MFA of Russia Maria Zakharova, a Greek ship under the Panamanian flag, was anchored in the territorial waters of Benin. According to the foreign Ministry, there were 18 Russians and two citizens of Ukraine.
Later, Embassy of Benin in Russia officially confirmed the fact of seizure of the vessel.
Ambassador of the African state in Russia anisette Gabriel Kochofa reported that it was outside the territorial waters of Benin, passed TASS. According to him, the vessel could be up to four Russians.
He also noted that contact with the crew will become possible only after the vehicle gets into the territorial waters of Benin.
