The question of extradition to the U.S. a former employee of us secret services Edward Snowden can only resolve migration service of Russia or President Vladimir Putin. On Saturday, January 21, the official Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in an interview with BBC News, extracts from which leads RIA Novosti.
“This decision can be accepted by our immigration authorities or by President Putin… He (Snowden — approx. “Of the tape.ru”) is not a toy that can give he — man”, — said the press Secretary of the President in response to the question whether the Russian authorities to extradite Snowden, the US.
Also Peskov said that if Snowden extradited may face the death penalty — the United States remains one of the countries which survived the punishment.
In October last year, Snowden’s lawyer Anatoly Kucherena said that the legal basis for extradition of his client to the United States is not, according to the national news service (NSN).
In 2013, Snowden gave the journalists a number of secret documents about the activities of U.S. intelligence. In particular, they talked about doing a large-scale wiretapping of telephone conversations and monitor e-mails around the world.
After the publication of the materials Snowden fled from the US to Hong Kong and then to Moscow, where he spent more than a month in the transit zone of Sheremetyevo airport. 1 Aug 2013 he received in Russia, temporary shelter, and a year later — a three-year residence permit.
The us authorities charged Snowden illegal transfer of information of importance to national security, intentional transmission of intelligence information and theft of state property. In total at home, Snowden faces up to 30 years in prison.
