Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said “the amazing destiny of a” former Governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili after the deprivation of citizenship of Ukraine. The head of the government called the situation “a fantastic tragicomedy”.
Dmitry Medvedev in his Facebook commented on the situation around the former Governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili, whom President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has deprived the Ukrainian passport.

Medvedev stressed that his surprise actions of the Ukrainian authorities, who first took Saakashvili to the citizenship of his country, made him Governor of Ukrainian region, and then took his passport and agreed to his extradition to Georgia.
“All this is the indisputable evidence of the highest moral qualities of the two people who cast this fantastic tragicomedy. Show must go on,” wrote the Prime Minister.
Wednesday, July 26, Poroshenko signed a decree on deprivation of the Ukrainian nationality to the former President of Georgia and former Governor of the Odessa region Mikhail Saakashvili. As explained by the migration service of the Republic, the decision was taken due to the fact that when submitting the questionnaire for a passport, Saakashvili stated about the data, which violated a provision of the “Law on citizenship”.
According to a source publication “Ukrainian truth” to the President of Petro Poroshenko, Saakashvili stripped of citizenship due to the fact that he withheld information about his criminal record. As said the interlocutor, the ex-Governor instituted “several severe cases in Georgia.”
