In Kiev explained the deprivation Saakashvili Ukrainian citizenship

The state migration service of Ukraine (GMSU) confirmed the withdrawal of the former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili Ukrainian citizenship, informs television channel TSN.

The Department explained that the inquiry about the legality of obtaining Saakashvili Ukrainian passports to the Prosecutor’s office sent a Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada from the Radical party Andrei Lozovoi. The request was forwarded to GMS, where he found that the application process for a passport Saakashvili violated the provisions of the “Law on citizenship”, putting false information. So, he said that is not under investigation in Ukraine or abroad, while in may, 2015 he was arrested in absentia in Georgia.

As a result, the decision on deprivation of the citizenship of the former Odessa Governor was received by the Commission on citizenship issues, and the corresponding decree was signed by President Petro Poroshenko.

Later, the press service GMSU indicated on its website that the basis for deprivation of citizenship was a violation of Saakashvili’s law due to the “deliberate submission of false information”.
