The mosque qubbat Al-Sahra on the Temple mount in Jerusalem
The Israeli authorities decided to dismantle the metal detectors at the entrance to the temple mount in Jerusalem, which provoked massive protests by local Arab community. On Tuesday, July 25, reports the newspaper The Jerusalem Post.
It is noted that they will be replaced by camera technology of facial recognition. Agreement on the dismantling of the detectors has been achieved through intensive discussions between Israeli police and vendors of cameras.
On 22 July, the leader of the Palestinian authority Mahmoud Abbas announced the suspension of all contacts with Israel because of the appearance of metal detectors on the Temple mount. Abbas said that Israel is trying to take control of the sacred place.
Security measures were tightened after the massacre of 14 July of two Israeli policemen three militants-Arabs, firing from the territory of the Temple mount. The increased security measures have resulted in conflict of the Islamic community with law enforcement over the last two day, four Palestinians were killed and hundreds were injured.
The temple mount is one of the main Muslim shrines, where the ruins of the Jewish Second temple, there are mosques al-Aqsa and qubbat as-Sakhra.
