Director of the European cooperation Department of Russian foreign Ministry Andrey Kelin said that Moscow does not see NATO as an anachronism and declare the need to restore the Alliance to its former relations, reports “Interfax”.
“What’s an anachronism? Many countries to be in NATO is beneficial, economically profitable, politically, because it doesn’t need to build an independent foreign policy, it is enough to join the General,” – said Kaelin.
However, he noted that NATO “is a reality, it is a military factor, so one spell is not enough”.
“NATO is necessary to build normal relations to resume what it was” – said a senior diplomat.
Kelin said that “there are many reasons why States, especially small ones, prefer to be in this organization.”
Earlier, permanent representative of Russia to NATO Alexander Grushko during the video-conference with Brussels, said that Moscow is ready to restore military ties with the Alliance.
