The Duma called on the parliaments of Europe to condemn the decision on the demolition of monuments to Soviet soldiers

MOSCOW, July 19. /TASS/. The state Duma meeting on Wednesday appealed to European parliaments and inter-parliamentary organizations in connection with the adopted in Poland by the law on the demolition of monuments to Soviet soldiers and urged to condemn and confront the destruction and desecration of monuments to fighters against fascism.

Simultaneously with the Knesset of Israel

The draft appeal “To the parliaments of the countries of Europe, the OSCE parliamentary Assembly, the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the European Parliament in connection with the insult to the memory of soldiers killed during the liberation of Europe from Nazism, the Holocaust and other crimes against humanity committed by the Nazis and their collaborators during the Second world war” prepared by the speaker of the state Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, the leaders of all four parliamentary factions and the Chairman of the relevant Committee Leonid Slutsky. The lower house of the Russian Parliament for the first time considered the draft statement simultaneously with the Knesset of Israel, who on Wednesday also discussed a similar document.
