Israel opposed the agreement on the truce in the South-West of Syria
The Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel opposes the agreement Russia and the U.S. on the ceasefire in the South-West of Syria due to the strengthening of Iran’s positions in the region. About it reports the Israeli edition of Haaretz.
The Israeli Prime Minister made this statement during a press conference after a meeting with President of France Emmanuel Macron. “Israel opposes the agreement on ceasefire in the South of Syria, which has reached the United States and Russia, because it perpetuates the Iranian presence in the country”, — stated in the message.
As reported by Haaretz, a source in diplomatic circles, tel Aviv “aware of the intent of Iran” to substantially expand its presence in Syria. Iran, according to the interlocutor of the edition, interested not only in sending advisers to Syria, but also in this country in its armed forces, including the establishment of the air base for Iranian aircraft and naval bases for the fleet.
“This changes the landscape in the region compared to the fact that there [in Syria] was until now,” said the official.
A ceasefire agreement in the South-West of Syria has been achieved as a result of negotiations Russia and the USA on 7 July. As reported by the Associated Press, the talks were also attended by Israel and Jordan.
