The Minister of culture Vladimir Medinsky explained his words about “demonstrative flogging” museums, calling to increase the rate of inclusion of Museum objects in electronic state catalogue of the Museum Fund.
On Saturday, Medina said that the museums that in time will not bring items from their collections in the electronic state catalogue of the Museum Fund will be taken serious measures. He called these measures “Russian national game “indicative flogging”.
“We at the initiative of the Union of museums of Russia in the result of a very complex, long-term work have adopted a new principle of inclusion of objects from the Museum collection in a public electronic directory. This practice was very difficult, almost impossible, and although the law was passed in the mid 90-ies, during the 17 years it was with great difficulty made about 2 million units of the Museum store. …We are proud to have been able to change legislation in practice and to introduce new principles for inclusion in the Museum’s catalogue of the Museum’s storage units,” the Minister told reporters. According to him, the new principles allowed “to do more than was done for the previous 17 years.”
Explaining his words about the “demonstrative flogging” of museums that in time will not bring Museum objects in electronic state catalogue of the Museum Fund, Medinsky said that we need to understand why some museums are “disjointed.”
“We want these rates to increase. Want to understand why some museums are high growth rates, significantly exceeding the targets, some are inactive. We want to understand the reasons: maybe they do not have enough hands, may need additional instructions. We are interested in the fact that all the wealth that has been accumulated by generations and is concentrated in our museums, be considered and that nothing is missing,” — said the Minister.
“Unless, of course, Museum workers, heads of museums …generally ignore the law in principle and have not even begun this work, and created a Commission with participation of Museum workers do not find any reasonable explanation, then under existing authority going to deal with it,” added Medina.
