SAINT PETERSBURG, July 9. /TASS/. Several thousand residents of St. Petersburg here on a Sunday for the event “There is such a profession – to defend the Motherland” dedicated to the 105th anniversary of the Russian Air and space forces, the correspondent of TASS.
The action takes place in the exhibition complex “Lenexpo” in the Vasilyevsky island, the culmination of the celebration should be the performance of the aviation group “Swifts” pilots which will show aerobatics over the Gulf of Finland. The events dedicated to the centenary of military aviation of Russia, began in the Alexander Nevsky monastery, where the ceremony of military salute of the first Russian pilots. The basket of flowers with the participation of honor guard and military band laid to the burial places of the first Russian aviators Vsevolod Abramovich, Gleb Multiplex, Leo Matsievich, Sergey Specify and twice Hero of the Soviet Union, honorary citizen of St. Petersburg Alexey Mazurenko.
