Scientists have learned what the weather prevents sleep
MOSCOW, may 28 — RIA Novosti. Temperature rise at night adversely affects sleep, found researchers from the University of California in San Diego. The results were published in the scientific journal Science Advances.
The reason for the study was heat waves observed in San Diego in October 2015, said one of the authors, Nick Obradovic portal Eurekalert. Obradovic said that he and the others in this period have suffered from lack of sleep. This led him to the idea to test whether there is any pattern between the temperature jumps at night time and sleep quality.
The material for the study was based on data from General medical research, collected from 2002 to 2011, with the participation of 765 thousand people in the US. The scientists compared the observed experimental cases of insufficient sleep and the weather service on temperature conditions.
The results showed that the abnormal temperature increase by 1 degree Celsius leads to three cases of lack of sleep on 100 people per month. The negative impact of warming at night becomes more acute in the summer. The researchers also noted that those with less material wealth, and those who are over 65 years of age, more than others suffer from a lack of sleep is associated with irregular temperature.
