Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev has proposed to prohibit the demonstration of scenes of drinking alcohol on TV from 6 to 23 hours. The statement was prepared by the Centre for national alcohol policy development (CRNP), reports RT.
In CRAP advocate a ban scenes with the drinking of alcohol “in television, video, film programs, documentary and feature films,” because in most cases it is hidden advertising of unhealthy lifestyles. The authors of the appeal asked Medvedev to instruct Roskomnadzor, the Ministry of health, Federal Antimonopoly service and the Ministry of justice to consider this initiative.
It is assumed that the document should help to reduce the abuse of alcohol.
Under current law, in Russia, alcohol advertising is prohibited on the Internet and on TV. However, the domestic advertising of wine and champagne are allowed on radio and TV from 23:00 to 7:00.
