Politician Sohan Murmu did not attend the ceremony of presenting his certificates of victory in the elections. Representatives of the electoral committee contacted his relatives and found out that the winner of the elections had died on November 6. Moreover, the election commission did not specifically inform about his death.
“Members of the Murmu family, who defeated his opponent with 28 votes, said that his last wish was to win the elections. Therefore, they did not inform the authorities about Murmu's death. Not a single villager told us anything either. As you can see, they voted for him in order to respect his last wish, “- said the representative of the local authorities.
As a result, the situation was difficult for the local election commission. The state authorities asked the country's CEC to declare the elections invalid.
In April, it became known that Chadian President Idris Deby once again won the election and died on the same day. The politician was re-elected for a sixth term – he had been in power for over 30 years. The President decided to celebrate the victory over the rebels on the front lines, for which he went to the war zone in the north of the country. However, rebel forces attacked government forces, causing Deby to be wounded. He died in hospital.
