American Academy apologized for the mistake in presenting the award “Oscar”

The American film Academy has apologized to the cast and crews of the films “La La land” (La La Land) and “Moonlight” (Moonlight) for a mistake when announcing the winner in the nomination “Best film” at the ceremony of awarding the prize “Oscar”. “We deeply regret the mistakes made during the announcement of the winner in the nomination “Best film” at the ceremony, “Oscars”, — said in the text published on the portal Medium on behalf of the Academy.
“Last night and today we spent on the investigation (incident)”, — reads the statement. The Academy also promised to continue the proceedings and to take the necessary measures in connection with the incident.
The text also notes that full responsibility for this incident is assumed auditing and consulting company PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
On the 89 th ceremony of awarding the prize “Oscar” on Sunday the right to name the picture that won the most prestigious nomination “the Best film” was given to the actors Warren Beatty and faye dunaway. They opened the received envelope and announced that the prize was awarded to the romantic musical “La La land” (La La Land) directed by Damien Chazelle.
But then the organizers said that the error occurred. The award was actually meant for the film “Moonlight” (Moonlight) Barry Jenkins about growing up a black teenager in poor areas of Miami.
