DUSHANBE, February 27. /TASS/. Russia and Tajikistan have agreed to use opportunities located in the Republic of the 201st Russian military base to protect the Tajik-Afghan border. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin after talks with his Tajik counterpart Emomali Rahmon.
According to him, Moscow and Dushanbe share concerns related to the spread in Afghanistan terrorist groups, including ISIS (banned in Russia), as well as the rapid growth of drug trafficking and crime. “In this regard (Russia and Tajikistan) agreed to intensify joint action for the protection of the Tajik-Afghan border, including use of located in Tajikistan the Russian military base,” – said the Russian leader.
According to first Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, at a meeting today the President of Tajikistan has told about strengthening of border with Afghanistan. “Our President gave relevant instructions that we will implement it,” – said the first Deputy Prime Minister.
