FCS: 55 thousand tons of counterfeit goods for 2 billion rubles were detained near the Russian-Kazakh border
The Kazakh border is overflowing with counterfeit goods, the press service of the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of Russia told RIA Novosti.
Since the beginning of the year, FCS employees have found more than three thousand vehicles at the border carrying more than 55 thousand tons of goods in violation of the law … The total cost of the seized counterfeit goods exceeds two billion rubles, the customs service estimated.
Kazakhstan and Russia are members of the Eurasian Economic Union, and there is no customs control between the countries. However, the considerable length of the border, more than 7.5 thousand kilometers, makes the site popular for the import of prohibited goods. Samara customs alone in the border area for nine months of the year found more than a thousand goods “with signs of counterfeit.” Most often we are talking about clothes, shoes, toys, perfumes, cosmetics, alcohol and tobacco products are also found.
To combat the import of illegal cigarettes, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia proposed to introduce a law that would allow the seizure of a car that was used for transportation. Experts estimate the losses of the Russian budget from not received tobacco excise taxes at 100 billion rubles a year, noted in the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
