Arsen Avakov
The Ukrainian authorities have a specific plan for the return of Crimea and Donbass under control, and in this respect the country’s territorial integrity is not a subject of debate. As reported by RIA Novosti, said the Minister of internal Affairs Arsen Avakov in an interview to television channel “1+1”.
“I am familiar with the real plans of our diplomats who are working on this situation, including myself as a practitioner, I spent in the ATO area and understand what is happening there, also take part in it”, — said Avakov. Under the ATO (anti-terrorist operation) Kiev understands military actions in the Donbass against the self-proclaimed supporters of Donetsk and Lugansk national republics.
“We have a plan that will be implemented, and it absolutely is not affiliated with the slightest concessions,” — said Avakov.
According to the Minister, the issue of returning Crimea and the Donbass can be resolved quickly and diplomatically, not militarily. “We are in a period of time when this issue can be resolved quickly through diplomatic means, not by military means,” he said.
On 19 February, the newspaper the New York Times reported that in February, shortly before the resignation of Michael Flynn from the post of assistant to the President for national security, in his office, was handed a document with suggestions on how the American leader Donald trump could remove imposed on Russia restrictions. The plan was developed by the Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andrey Artemenko member of the Radical party of Oleh Lyashko and opponent of the current President of Petro Poroshenko.
As told himself Artemenko, Crimea should rent Russia, after several decades on the Peninsula held a plebiscite, which finally resolved the issue of its amenities. Another item of the plan the main idea of which the Deputy refers to the resolution of the situation through compromise, is the return of Donbass in the Ukraine. After the Amnesty and the transfer of the border, according to his plan, arranged a nationwide vote, which will determine whether to provide the Donbass special status. Then you create a Fund for the revival of this region, which is filled with different States and in which there will be payments from Russia for the lease of the Crimea.
The initiative Artemenko met with bewilderment in Moscow and Kiev.
Crimea became part of Russia after the March 2014 referendum in which the region’s residents voted for joining the Russian Federation. Ukraine and some other countries considers the territory occupied. In Moscow insist that the reunion was held in accordance with international law and the question of the return of the Peninsula is not negotiable.
