Yuri Khovansky, accused of justifying terrorism, said in a letter that he was “already dead”
the terrorist attack on Dubrovka blogger Yuri Khovansky in a letter from the pre-trial detention center told about how he feels. The blogger described his condition with the words “I'm already dead.” The letter from Khovansky was posted by Twitter user Denis Kasyanchuk.
In the letter, Khovansky said that the investigation had involved dummy witnesses in his case. “They gave false testimony that I sang the song in 2018 [year] and not 2012. Now no statute of limitations applies to me. This means seven years in prison, which in my case is tantamount to a death sentence, “- said youtuber.
The arrested blogger also expressed concern that he could be sent to a mental hospital because of a fabricated diagnosis. According to Khovansky, the doctors in the institution will make him a “fool.”
“In fact, I am already dead, Denis. They sentenced me to death. These outrageous people cannot be stopped, they use left-wing witnesses to the right and to the left, they will get nothing for it, “the blogger concluded.
In mid-November it became known that the investigator had ordered a psychiatric examination for Khovansky. The blogger's lawyer noted that he did not see the need for the procedure.
Earlier, Khovansky's girlfriend Maria Nelyubova spoke about the youtuber's discomfort. According to Nelyubova, the blogger has problems with blood circulation, liver and thyroid gland.
Khovansky was arrested in early June. The blogger was charged under Article 205.2 of the Russian Criminal Code (“Public calls for terrorist activities, public justification of terrorism or propaganda of terrorism”). The reason was the performance by Khovansky of a song about the taking of hostages during the musical “Nord-Ost” in 2002. Two videos with the blogger's performance appeared on YouTube in the profile of a user named Yuri in 2020. There were no other videos or details about the account owner. The punishment under the article under which the case was initiated against Khovansky provides for a fine from 300 thousand to a million rubles or imprisonment for a term of five to seven years.
