New unmanned high-speed train tested in Japan

East Japan Railway Company tested an unmanned high-speed train

The Japanese company East Japan Railway Company conducted the first tests of an unmanned high-speed train. This was reported by the Kyodo News agency.

The test run of the E7 series train of 12 cars took place on the morning of November 17 on a 5-kilometer section. The driver was in the cockpit in case of unforeseen situations. After he put the controls into automatic mode, the train successfully completed the run without human intervention. During the tests, the train approached a maximum speed of 110 kilometers per hour.

It is noted that the train stopped 8 centimeters from the calculated stopping place. However, experts noted that the permissible error is 50 centimeters.

The company noted that in the future they plan to run high-speed trains without drivers in operation against the backdrop of a shortage of labor.

Previously, Russian Railways (Russian Railways) have announced the timing of the launch of the unmanned electric trains “Lastochka” on the Moscow Central Circle (MCC). The trains are planned to be launched in 2024.
