French authorities plan to fight juvenile prostitution by informing 
The French government has unveiled a plan to combat juvenile prostitution, calling it “alarming and growing problem “. The plan, worth 14 million euros, will be implemented during 2021 and 2022, according to Euronews.
According to the Secretary of State for Children, Adrian Take, there are now between 7,000 and 10,000 children in France involved in prostitution. He also noted that this number is constantly increasing. “Half of them are girls, half are boys, they have been in prostitution since they were 14 years old. This applies to all social strata, “said Take.
The authorities plan to help the affected families, whose children are involved in this business. A lot of resources will also be devoted to informing, raising awareness of the children themselves at school, to educating adults who are in contact with them: teachers, social workers, police and gendarmerie.
Euronews reports that the plan's goal is to educate the public to better recognize the “signals”, to understand that the teenager is probably in prostitution. This could be behavior change, absenteeism, estrangement, or runaway.
The government also wants to put pressure on rental platforms, as rental space is often used by pimps. Justice Minister Eric Dupont-Moretti said that the French presidency of the European Union will introduce measures to force rental sites to respond to investigations into trafficking or pimping of minors.
Armel Le Bigot-Macot, President of the ACPE Association, fighting child prostitution, called these statements a real step forward. “For the first time I feel that the authorities are ready to fight the prostitution of minors,” she said.
Earlier in France, soldiers from Eastern Europe were detained on suspicion of pimping. All six soldiers were charged with several charges at once: “aggravated pimping”, “human trafficking”, “money laundering” and “participation in a criminal community.
