St. Petersburg's sanitary doctor Bashketova: residents over 60 are most vulnerable to COVID-19
Chief State Sanitary Doctor of St. Natalia Bashketova on the air of the St. Petersburg TV channel explained the reasons for the introduction of mandatory vaccination against coronavirus for residents over 60 years old.
According to Bashketova, residents of the city who are most vulnerable to virus. The specialist added that among those who died from coronavirus in St. Petersburg, 80 percent are people aged 60 and over.
“Today we see that among the adult population, mainly people 60 years and older are sick. … Moreover, people 60 years and older … already have certain chronic diseases, and these chronic diseases just exacerbate the course of coronavirus infection, “- said the sanitary doctor of St. Petersburg.
Earlier, the Russian government submitted to the State Duma draft amendments on the use of QR codes in some modes of transport and in public places. The State Duma considered such a measure necessary. With the introduction of QR codes in transport and public places in Russia, a transitional period will be introduced, which will last until February 1, 2022.
On November 10, the St. Petersburg authorities approved a decree on compulsory vaccination of residents over 60 years old. The coronavirus vaccine was also obliged to give workers of industrial, processing and transport enterprises. At the same time, citizens who have contraindications established by doctors can refuse vaccination. Mandatory vaccination of residents over 60 years old has also been introduced in the Krasnodar Territory.
