According to her, the coronavirus provokes thrombosis and affects the vascular endothelium. The doctor suggested that the same mechanism causes a burning sensation in the hands and feet.
Scientists at Pavlov St. Petersburg State Medical University found that the effect appears on average 21 days after the illness. They said that at first the pain is episodic, later it becomes constant.
“To reduce pain, patients are prescribed special prescription drugs. The intensity of pain is different for everyone – some have strong, and some have such that it allows them to take medicine and continue to work, “said Kushnir.
She added that the symptoms go away after about six months, but in some patients, they persist for a long time.
