Russian authorities disagree with the conclusions of the international human rights organization Amnesty International about the restriction of human rights because of the “Spring law”. This was stated by the official Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday, February 22, the correspondent “Tapes.ru”.
“It is regularly produced documents. In many ways we usually do not agree. In this case, we do not agree with the conclusions made in this time”, — said the press Secretary of the Russian President.
Earlier Wednesday, Amnesty International released its annual report, which States that the current Russian “Spring law” violates obligations of Moscow in the sphere of protection of human rights. To violations related, in particular, the ban on missionary activity outside the specialized religious institutions, as well as the requirement for operators to keep records of all conversations and metadata.
Anti-terrorism package of laws was developed by state Duma Deputy Irina Yarovaya, together with the head of the Federation Council Committee on defense and security Viktor Ozerov, was passed by the lower house of Parliament on 24 June last year. At the beginning of the next month it was signed by President Vladimir Putin. It implies, in particular that from 1 July 2018 Telecom operators and Internet companies will be required to store six months of user traffic, including text messages, voice information, image, sound, and video.
From Amnesty International, there are about two million members and more than five million supporters-activists. The stated purpose of the organization — research and actions to protect the physical, psychological integrity and freedom of conscience and expression.
