David Bowie posthumously was awarded the Brit Awards
LONDON, 23 Feb — RIA Novosti, Denis Voroshilov. British rock singer David Bowie, who died at the beginning of last year, won the national music prize Brit Awards in the nomination “Best performer”. The broadcast of the ceremony is channel iTv.
Bowie died 10 January 2016 at the age of 69 in new York from liver cancer, who have struggled the last year and a half. During his career he has sold over 136 million records and is among the ten most successful artists in the history of popular music in the UK.
He is the recipient of numerous music awards, including Grammy awards (“Grammy”) and Brit Awards (“Brit awards”). In 2004, the magazine “rolling stone” put Bowie on the 39th place in the rating “100 greatest artists of rock music of all time” list and 23rd in the ranking of “the 100 greatest singers of all time”.

Best British performer named 29-year-old Scottish singer and songwriter Emeli Sande. She received the award along with her sister.
British indie rock band from Manchester “1975” received the award in the category “Best group”, and the breakthrough of the year recognized hip-hop singer and songwriter from East Sussex Rory Graham, aka Rag’n’bone Man.
Participants of the ceremony honored memory of the singer George Michael, who died 25 December 2016 at the age of 53 at his home in the English County of Oxfordshire.
