On execution of the state defense order in 2017 will be allocated more than 1.4 trillion rubles. This was stated by Deputy defense Minister Yuri Borisov in an interview to “Rossiyskaya Gazeta”.
“The main share, more than 65 percent of the funds aimed at the procurement of modern weapons and technology. As of January 1, 2017, the level of modernity of weapons and equipment in the units of permanent readiness was more than 58 percent,” said Borisov, noting that the defense Ministry has confidence in the implementation of 100% of the assignments in terms of strategic weapons in 2017.
He also said that in 2016 the state defense order was fulfilled by 97 percent.
Currently, Russia is implementing the state armaments Program for the period 2011-2020 (GPV-2020), under which the modernisation of the armed forces must spend about 20 trillion rubles. Three trillion needs to be spent on technical re-equipment of defense industry.
The state program of arms development for the period 2018-2025 years (GLS-2025) should be prepared by July 2017. Its volume and composition in the moment, to be agreed with the competent authorities. According to the reiterated assertions of the military-political leadership of the country, some of the costs of GPV-2020 will be transferred to the GPV-2025.
