In the Russian Orthodox Church criticized the draft concept of the Russian nation

Moscow. 15 Feb. INTERFAX.RU — First Deputy Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church and society and the media Alexander Shchipkov criticized the concept of the Russian nation, proposed by academician Valery Tishkov.

“The concept of V. A. Tishkov will further taboo topics Russian national Holocaust and genocide (Tallergof and Terezin, the civil war, the Great Patriotic war, the collapse of the USSR, the de-Russification of South-Eastern Ukraine, etc.). Taking this concept will lead to the realization of the doctrine of “the world as a community of regions” and the disintegration of the single national territories of the Russian Federation”, — writes the Tweaks in the article published on the website of “Mind”.

In his opinion, the project Tishkov, published in the media, “clearly not grasping the reality that poorly fit into the space of Russian language, culture and Russian form of Orthodoxy (Russian world)”.

“The Russian nation” only has meaning as a synonym for a Russian”, — said Tweaks. As he writes, Tishkov tries to present the matter thus, “if there are only two understandings of the nation: the ethnic one — the cave, undeveloped, other — “civilian”.

The representative of the Church indicated that the provisions of the “Strategy of state national policy of the Russian Federation for the period till 2025” define the position of the Russian people in the country as a “strategic core” of the Russian society.

At the end of October 2016, Russian President Vladimir Putin has supported the development of the law on the Russian nation. Tishkov chaired the working group on drafting this law.
