The route of the flight of two Tu-160 took place February 9 through neutral waters in the Barents and Norwegian seas and Atlantic ocean. This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of defense of Russia major-General Igor Konashenkov.
“The route of the flight took place through neutral waters near the Barents, Norwegian seas and the Atlantic ocean. The crews of Tu-160 has performed aerial refueling aircraft tanker Il-78”, – he stressed.
According to him, at some stages of the route of the Tu-160 was accompanied by the aircraft of other States, in particular the RAF, for whom “the support of Russian aircraft and ships of the Russian Navy is an exclusive event and news of the day.”
Konashenkov said that all flights of aircraft videoconferencing are conducted in strict accordance with international rules of using airspace over neutral waters, without violating the borders of foreign States.
Thursday, 9 February, Britain sent Typhoon fighter jets to escort Russian Tu-160 bombers, which allegedly were in the area of responsibility of the United Kingdom.
