Currently matched only one visit of the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe in Russia – far Eastern economic forum in September. This was reported by press Secretary of Russian President Dmitry Peskov.

During his visit to Japan in mid-December last year, the Russian and Japanese leaders agreed to a compromise. If the status of the disputed Islands does not change, they remain in the jurisdiction of Russia, it is perhaps their joint economic development. Also the experts were asked to prepare a draft joint economic development of disputed Islands. A joint agreement is possible in the fishery, mariculture, tourism, medicine, ecology and other fields, has specified the assistant to the President for international Affairs Yuri Ushakov.
Answering the question “Газеты.Ru” under what law will a possible joint activities, Ushakov said that this activity should be carried out on the basis of Russian legislation, “because these Islands belong to Russia.”
