FSB of Russia has explained, what has led to the establishment of the border zone on the border of Russia and Belarus. According to authorities, the border zone appeared at the border of the Pskov, Smolensk and Bryansk regions to fight against transit illegal migration, drug trafficking and smuggling, RIA Novosti reported.
“This measure is aimed at solving problems to detect and prevent illegal transit migration, drugs trafficking and illegal cross-border movement of commodity-material values”, – said the FSB.
The Department assured that there will be no restrictions on the freedom of crossing the state border of the Russian Federation citizens of both Russia and Belarus. Also not provided for the border control of persons, vehicles and goods.
The FSB added that the creation of a border zone does not contradict the norms of international treaties of the two countries.
