Russian senators suggested that members of the Turkish Parliament to make a joint visit to Syria. On Tuesday, January 31, reported the press service of the Federation Council.
“Konstantin Kosachev told about the results of a joint trip with members of the European Parliament in Syria. He proposed to consider the organization of such trips in the SAR Russian and Turkish parliamentarians,” — said in a press release following the meeting, Vice-speaker of the Federation Council Ilyas Umakhanov and the head of the international Affairs Committee, Konstantin Kosachev with the Ambassador of Turkey in Russia by Hussein Dirioz.
January 13 the Deputy of the state Duma from the Communist party Sergei Gavrilov, a part of the group for relations with the Syrian Parliament, said that Russian parliamentarians during his visit to Syria to meet with President of the Republic Bashar al-Assad.
On the same day, a member of the Duma defense Committee Dmitry Sablin told about the schedule of meetings of deputies with representatives of the Arab Republic. According to him, twice a year the Russians will fly to Syria and twice a year — make the Syrian delegation in Moscow.
At the end of last year, a delegation of three MEPs from Italy, Latvia and Estonia, as well as a group of members of the Federation Council visited Syria. After meeting with Assad, the members of the delegation got acquainted with the work of the Russian Center for reconciliation at the airbase Hamim, visited a soldier’s dining room and Museum seized from militants military equipment.
Turkey from August 2016 with the participation of soldiers of the opposition free Syrian army (FSA) carries out the operation “shield of the Euphrates”.
